Sub Martis: Starship
The third Sub Martis novel: Copper and Linen, now drafted into Mars Fleet, must hone their skills at Fleet Academy before heading to their first posting, the mighty flagship MSS Drake II, under the command of the scary Colonel Elle Chryse Moritz. The two find Fleet Academy training tough enough but life aboard the flagship of the Fleet no easier, for the Drake seems to be the target of saboteurs that are intent on foiling the mission in order to claim the ultimate prize: evidence of existing sentient alien life out there. With one secret surfacing that causes more than a headache, the two have to find their feet in a totally novel environment whilst carrying out their programmed research, fitting in with their rather more military-minded fellow-officers and trying to make sense of data that seems to suggest that there are aliens out there that might be less than friendly... New colleagues provide diversions, strange allies are met and dangerous foes must be outfaced before the mystery of who and what Spook was and is, and what his people were doing on Mars in the dim and distant past, can be solved.
The Pirates' Web: Arianrhod
The PSS Arianrhod is an independent trading vessel operated by a maverick crew of merchant spacers under the command of Captain Cinnabar Ahxenta. Flying under the common flag of the Trades Alliance, she tends to drop anchor in the Web, a vast network of docking, repair and marketing facilities around the free port of Merkat Three. But Arianrhod’s risky trade out in the space lanes is about to get more dangerous… Attacks on shipping are increasing, vessels and crews are being destroyed and whole planets targeted, suggesting that there are new bullies on the block intent on mass destruction. With their living to get and their lives to get on with, Arianrhod and her crew find themselves commandeered by the military for a war that has little to do with them and in possession of information that seems to make them the target of some very dangerous hostiles. Arianrhod has been in tight places before, but she finds herself caught up in a situation that is more than likely to end her legendary career in the space lanes...
Sub Martis: Dome Beagle
The second book in the Sub Martis series. Life as Amberline students digging deep under Mars... Copper and Linen find their ongoing exploration of subsurface Mars enlivened by a batch of mini stealth surface science bots that are more than they seem, a presentation of their research at prestigious Viking One and a renewed acquaintance with Lt. Col. Elle Chryse Moritz, who is more than interested in their work. Back at their Lowell lab, strange things are turning up in their samples and even stranger people are showing an unholy interest in what they are. With the Martian Fleet on a recruitment drive and their professional lives interrupted by snooping strangers, incompetent thieves, the odd shot and some high-tech supplied by the recently-promoted Colonel Moritz, Copper and Linen find themselves pondering the mysteries of telepathic communication, alien artefacts that spell trouble and the imminent launch of a very special starship...
Sub Martis: Dome Lowell
How on Mars do you make a living, even if you have a degree…? Welcome to the world of Sub Martis and the first book in the series. With futures to plan, jobs to get and worlds to conquer mat-student Copper Milkstone of Lowell College, University of Mars finds herself drawn into best friend Linen Lyrican’s schemes for downtrodden Majorelle, and shy, short and lonely Lofty, the proprietor of their favourite watering hole. Disruption comes in many forms including caustically inquisitive Ma Kellyn, fam-unit mate Maressan, the Divine Thulia and Lofty’s dog Osterley (who begs from customers and pees in odd corners). As Copper and Linen map out a future that leads further and deeper into Mars than either could have imagined, Beagle Dome Complex beckons, the ground heaves and hard work leaves the two with more questions than answers. And why is the Crest of the University of Mars a mortar board and a pair of crossed shovels?

Hindered rather than helped by senior officers, Fermion has to rely on his own intuition, technology in the shape of his personal thought-rec and the questionable assistance of the Chief Medical Officer whose expert surgical intrusion appears to have cured his inner ear imbalance but left him with more than food for thought…
